Katie + Pete // Villa Mosconi Bertani, Italy

A bit about you two! How did you two first meet?

Fate sat us next to each other at work nearly 10 years ago. After a couple of years of pretending not to fancy each other, it became too difficult to deny & the rest is history. We've literally spent more time together in the last 8 years of our relationship that most couples would in double that time.

Working, commuting, holidaying, weekending, socialising with friends & those Netflix and chill evenings, all spent together. When I did sadly get a new job a few years ago, Lockdown luckily meant we were back in the throws of our 24/7 routine. Pete is very much my happy place and we couldn't be more excited to be making this official!

The proposal? ...Tell us everything!

We got engaged during the march 2021 lockdown, in the garden of our new lockdown purchase, after picking up the keys that afternoon. I did question why Pete took 2.5 hours at B&Q collecting wall plugs but with a house full of boxes to unpack, fair play. Turns out he drove all the way up to Hatton garden from deep dark SW London which took a bit longer than expected…! He got down on one knee and, after being prompted for an answer (for the first time in my life I literally had no words as was in COMPLETE SHOCK for about 5 minutes), wholeheartedly said a big fat YES. Champagne was cracked open just as our new neighbour popped his head over the fence to introduce himself and tell us that it was bin day the next morning.

You guys? ...What do you do?..How do you spend your days?..What's important in life?

We’re both incredibly family & friends orientated, and over the last 8 years have built the most special bonds with each other’s nearest and dearest. So much so that some of my ‘lot’ make up his ushers, and Petes cousins, friends, and WAGs are joining me on my hen do. After having waited this long to say ‘I do’, we want it to be extra special. Aside from love for our special people, we share a few other things in common - BIG love of cooking (we end up hosting quite a lot...!). We've been skiing every year we've been together & I think we were both pleased to have found someone who likes it as much as one another. Pete is also a budding DJ which is great for when we want a two-man kitchen party.

The Venue/s? ... Why this place above anywhere else?

We’ve taken three of our favourite things (travelling, food and wine) and decided to do a destination wedding in Italy. We’ve found the most beautiful venue in Verona, Villa Mosconi Bertani that is conveniently on a vineyard that produces absolutely banging wines!

What experience do you want to give to your guests?

Fun with a capital F. Every good wedding starts with the couple having a bloody good time and that is very much the energy and vibe we want to give! Personalised ceremony with our BFF acting as our celebrant, friends self-writing readings and also a few nods to Pete's Scottish roots. Fun, intimate, personal, FUN.

Finally... great food. The Italians really know how to feed people. Great drinks. The Italians know how to... serve lots of booze.
