Nicola + Derek // Pendrell Hall, Country House Wedding Venue, Wolverhampton

Why do you want a Cinematic Wedding Videographer?

We want to capture our wedding so we have a real-life feeling every-time we watch our video back. We feel it is the best way to remember our wedding day and as we have been told many times, the day will go so quick it will be lovely to watch back over it.

Why did you pick Story Cabin Wedding Films?

When we watched your videos we knew straight away that Story Cabin was for us. I have a feeling in my heart watching one of your videos and my eyes filled up, I knew I had to use you.

Why we booked you for our Cinematic Wedding Film in Wolverhampton…

You guys? ...What do you do?..How do you spend your days?..What's important in life?

I am a medical secretary who works at New Cross Hospital alongside my best friends (my bridesmaids). Derek works in IT and is a deputy manager at bet365. We have two small children, Toby aged 5 and Charlotte aged 3. We don't get chance to go out socialising much together because the children are so young but we spend weekends enjoying family time. We are hoping that our wedding day is going to be the best "date day" we have ever had!

The proposal? ...Tell us everything!

After many years of hinting, quite blatantly, I had said that I would really like it if Derek did propose before I got to 40. I didnt want to wear a trouser suit on our wedding day. As it approached my 39th birthday our little girl was only 3 months old so we couldn't plan anything too exciting. I said it would be nice to have a day out in Birmingham, shopping, eating, drinking and I would get my makeup done in Selfridges as a treat. It turns out that Derek was using this as an opportunity to plan his proposal too. Whilst I had my makeup done at Charlotte Tilbury, Derek sent down a bottle of champagne for me, which was a fabulous surprise. He said he would meet me in the champagne bar after I was finished. When I joined him he had said we should take a selfie which I was quite pleased about as it proved we were out out! He produced the actual camera and went to rest it on the bar in order to take the photo and was faffing abou t trying to get the angle right. After a while I was thinking "why on earth is he doing this and not using his phone like normal" and thinking "people are looking at at us". As he walked towards me he suddenly got down on one knee......and asked me to marry him! To be honest I cant remember the exact words as I was totally in shock, especially after feeling a little self-conscious about the whole camera on the bar thing. Obviously I said yes!! I do remember saying "is it real" about the gorgeous ring that he was presenting to me. The whole bar cheered and we finished our champagne as I admired my stunning ring. I had waited a long time for that ring, lol! Afterwards we went for a fabulous meal in Hotel du Vin which was one of the first hotels we had stopped in together in the early days and managed a few cocktails before heading home to our children. Little did I know that when I planned my birthday day out, I had also played my own part in plann ing my proposal - result!! Derek still teases me that I didn't cry, I am a BIG cryer, I cry at everything, both when Im happy and sad. I put it down to the shock!

More about our Wedding Videography in Wolverhampton…

The Venue/s? ... Why this place above anywhere else?

One of the first houses we lived together was in a bungalow in Pendryl Close, Brewood. At the time Pendrell Hall, Wolverhampton was being renovated and we watched it be transformed on Facebook. I used to say that it would be wonderful to get married there, IF Derek EVER proposed! He finally did, 3 years later, and so we booked a viewing, just to have a look around. We fell in love within minutes of walking through the door. The wooden floors, the large windows looking over the fields..... I love a good field!! Pendrell Hall had such a warm feel about it, we knew it was the ONE. Plus I have a terrible habit of always being late, so being quite close to where we live was an added bonus!

What experience do you want to give to your guests?

A warm, intimate day where everyone can let their hair down and have fun.
